For the enthusiastic winter sports lover, the Tegelberg Schwangau winter sports arena offers pure winter experiences. Right on the doorstep, alpine skiing fans, carvers, and snowboarders will find the best conditions. A descent of 4.2 km with a height difference of 900 m promises sporty skiing enjoyment. Other slightly higher ski areas can be reached in a few minutes by car, such as the Tannheim mountain railways or the Reutte cable car ski area in Tyrol.

Cross-country skiing

The DSV Nordic Active Cross-Country Skiing Centre in Schwangau offers with 32 km of well-prepared trails the best conditions for both beginners and advanced skiers. The Neuschwanstein trail with panoramic views is the winter highlight for cross-country skiing enthusiasts. In addition, you will find almost unlimited cross-country skiing opportunities in the adjacent Tannheim valley with 140 km of prepared trails, 98 km of which are of easy difficulty.

Tobogganing

Sledding fun - the perfect activity for couples or the whole family. Sledding excursions are available, for example, to the Drehhütte or the mountain inn Bleckenau. After a snowy ascent, you can reward yourself with hearty dishes and then race downhill. Fun is guaranteed with this winter activity.

Königliche Kristalltherme Schwangau (spa complex)

Königliche Kristalltherme Schwangau offers five themed saunas, two natron or brine pools with different salt concentrations, an outdoor pool prepared according to Hildegard von Bingen, and two steam baths. On 14,000 m2, there is also a lovingly designed spa park as well as restaurants, a café, and a pool bar. All rooms of the spa complex are, just like Neuschwanstein Castle, inspired by the Byzantine style as well as French and German legends.

Winter hiking

More than 50 km of winter hiking trails around Lake Schwansee and Lake Forggensee await our guests. Exercise in the great outdoors, breathe in the fresh, healthy mountain air, and enjoy the winter sun - these are the ingredients for your feel-good day in Hohenschwangau. A special kind of nature experience is the wildlife feeding at the edge of the forest between Lake Bannwaldsee and Lake Forggensee. Up to 140 red deer come here every day around 3:00 pm to the feeding place. Adventurous snowshoe and hiking tours with summit views can be experienced a few kilometres further on Mount Buchenberg.

The numerous natural lakes offer plenty of opportunities for fun on the ice, e.g., on Lake Schwansee, Lake Alpsee, or Lake Bannwaldsee. The sparkling ice surfaces in the sunshine make you want to go ice skating, and curling is also an extremely popular hobby here.
